Inspiration
For Oppenheim is as the name states a homage to Meret Oppenheim. As wikipedia states she was a German-born Swiss Surrealist artist and photographer and lived from 1913 till 1985. However she would never call herself a surrealist.
The artwork that inspired this digital art is called Object, or Luncheon in Fur. This is a tea cup with spoon that is covered in fur. An absolute devine combination which makes something so practical absolutely worthless. Irritating the rational mind.

Process
Naturally the process starts in the mind. Sketches were made on paper before using photoshop to create a digital collage. After those two steps the concept was born and the digital drawing could begin.

The first step is to draw the outlining of the cup. I thought about exactly mirroring the outline, but decided against it. It makes the cup more alive when there is a small discrepancy between the two sides. The same principle hold when drawing a face.

The second step was drawing the body part. This was the hard part because I continued to drag the lines. Human bodies have weird bumps which makes them alive. As you see in the end product the feet changed a bit.

The fun part! Determining the colour pallet and placing the shadows and highlights. I absolutely love doing this part.

Here I focused my attention on the body to make it more realistic. Keeping in mind where the major bones in the body are (such as the hips and ribs).

Another fun part: detailing. Vessels and veins, beauty marks and wrinkles. Cracks in the skin and straille. The human skin is full of imperfections!

Adding the aweful feeling of hair on a cup… I present to you the end product!
Of course this has been made to sell as an NFT so I added the ugly red (C).
