Cup 90

This artwork is part of the Body Art Collection, who are all inspired by the amazing anti-artwork from Meret Oppenheim.

Story

The titel Cup 90 has several inspiration sources. First the obvious, the part cup in the titel refers to the base of the artwork. Which is a tea cup. The first inspiration source for the number 90 is degrees. The cup is lying on its side, and has turned 90 degrees.

Secondly, it has a clear link to the naked woman who is connected to the cupbase. The woman is not a size 0, but rather a size 6 (USA fashion standards), or for european standards she is not a size 36, but rather a size 48.

This indicates that her bra cup size is also not the “ideal” size of 75 C (European standard). Rather she is more likely to have 90, or higher, as a cup size. Depending on her height it is likely that she could be a size 90.

Process

The drawing process began naturally on paper. It felt natural to do a different body type than the other artworks. I sincerely find every body type attractive in their own way, fascinated by the way they differ and hold similarities.

Step 1: Use the same cup base as the other artworks in the Body Art Collection, like For Oppenheim.

Step 2: Add the outline of the elements, such as the nose and the body. This is the really difficult part. As you can see in the end result a lot of lines have served as inspiration rather than strict rules.

Step 3: Determining where the light source (s) comes from. Usually it feels natural to pick the top right corner, only this time i decided bottom right.

Step 4: This took a long time, adding the shading and highlights. Zooming in and working part by part. Slowly making process. Carefully roughing up the skin (loose the fake smootheness).

Step 5: Making it realistic. Here I’ve added depth in the face, only I was not satisfied with the attention the eye drew. In the endwork her eyes are closed. Besides I’ve also added additional details.

Step 6: The end result! This is the artwork that is sold on the NFT market. Therefore I’ve added the red (C).
