My name is….

… Mary Louise Aakram, well, when it is whenever I am in another country. Because usually my Dutch names are too difficult to pronounce. Since a lot of people aren’t accustomed to the sound of “ij” and “oe”. Therefore, I created my own name, using the world known name “Mary”.
I was born on a Saturday in 1996. My mother had an relatively easy birth since I was her second child. However I wouldn’t call any birthing easy. Well, perhaps those of marsupials, such as kangaroos and opossums.
If I need to use one word to describe me it would be Creator.
Creating new things with my hands, such as paintings and drawings. Or on my laptop with my digital art. But I am also a dreamer of events, stories and places that don’t exist anywhere else but in my head. Therefore in my free time I am also writing novels. I would love to publish one, but as with my art it feels like sharing a piece of my most inner thoughts. Honestly, that is scary! I am still finding out if I am ready to conquer that fear.
Another hobby of mine is to read, a lot. Be it amusing romantic novels, interesting social anthropology books or existential philosophy papers. Currently I am following the stoic principles of life, and I take great inspiration from Marcus Aurelius, Epictetus and Seneca the elder. Consequently thinking and day dreaming are also part of my favourite spare time activities.
